North Liberty is a growing city, and the city leaders are planning to expand some city services. Two new projects include a fire station on the west side of town and a park along a busy corridor.

It’s a great place for kids
This park features a playground and a natural playscape, which my boys loved. It also has a basketball court and baseball backstop. It is located in the Fox Run subdivision on Scales Bend Road. Its name was derived from suggestions submitted by residents.
The city has launched a fundraising campaign, “Building North Liberty’s Next Stage,” to push forward plans for the transformation of Centennial Park into a magnetic gathering place. It will feature amenities and facilities for RAGBRAI overnights, premier concerts, weddings, family reunions, community dinners, and business gatherings. It will also host public events like craft fairs and author visits, as well as support nonprofits by allowing them to use the facility at discounted rates.
The town is growing fast, but it maintains a small-town feel with great schools and lots of things to do. I love the small-town vibe and friendly people. I’m excited to see what else they have in store for us!
It’s a great place for a picnic
North Liberty is home to a number of great parks, including Beaver Kreek Park with its playground equipment and shady trees, and Centennial Park, whose ponds are a popular swimming destination in summer. It also has a trail that connects it to nearby Coralville.
The park is big enough to spread out in and never gets too crowded. It also has ramadas, a leashed dog area, and a large picnic area with benches.
Currently, the city is working to make its vision for Centennial Park a reality. A $500,000 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation will help bring to life a decade-long plan to transform the park into a community gathering place. Engineering will begin next year, and the first phase of the project is scheduled to open in 2024.
The park is also the site of Blues & BBQ, a one-day event that draws thousands of people to the area every July. The festival features a range of food vendors, live music, and a children’s play area. Explore more!

The newest addition to the Centennial Park complex is the Centennial Center and amphitheater, which will be perfect for RAGBRAI overnights, premier concerts, and weddings. The community also hopes to build an open-air pavilion and a splash pad.
The park features a pond, walking and biking paths, and native prairie grass. Its name was chosen through a contest held by the city.
